Financial Advisers

Ronald J. Van Surksum, CFP®
Certified Financial Planner™ Professional

My role at AAM – in addition to meeting with clients – is to analyze a client’s personal situation and create individualized financial plans and investment plans.

Essentially I create a “blue print” for my clients based on where they are today and then tell them what they need to do to reach their goals.

I enjoy working with experienced investors as well as “start-up” investors who are just beginning to work their way toward financial independence.

In addition to being the financial adviser, I spend a large portion of my time monitoring client investments and making sure investment dollars are adequately diversified.

ResizedI have a passion for encouraging and equipping people to experience the very best possible outcomes in their financial world. I love the consulting and planning process. Using excellent tools and resources, managing investment assets and to helping clients move forward in enjoying their journey known as “life”, I like to simplify the complex and organize the chaos that people may be experiencing in their current financial situation.

While at Aquinas College with my colleague Ron, I earned a major in Business Administration and another in Economics. In the past, I’ve held the Series 7 security registration (General Securities Representative Examination) and Series 66 security registration (Uniform Combined State Law Examination).

My first career in college coaching, including years at the NCAA Division I level, prepared me well to help clients take the steps necessary to maximize their financial potential.

I have lived in southeast Grand Rapids, near the Thornapple River, for more than ten years with my wife Jenny and our two boys.
