Social Security Tips – November 2018

You can sign up to receive your COLA notice online as soon as it’s released!

The COLA percentage was announced on October 11th but final benefit amounts aren’t available until early December – by mail or online!

These COLA notices will now be available to view and save via the online Message Center inside my Social Security. The Message Center is a secure, convenient portal where your clients can receive sensitive communications that Social Security does not send through email or text.

This year, individuals will still receive COLA notices by mail. In the future, they will be able to choose to receive their notice online instead.

Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA):

Based on the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI-W) from the third quarter of 2017 through the third quarter of 2018, Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries will receive a 2.8 percent COLA for 2019.
